GOAL

Mozilla hopes to create an improved user experience for travel through the Firefox mobile browser. We used user interviews to create empathetic maps and user journey maps to find pain points. We used Adobe XD for prototyping and 10 frequent travelers to test the plugin design.

Empathy Mapping

I. Lisa

Lisa is a 35-year-old woman who works as a tour guide. Travel is a necessity for her and the current application is not able to solve her needs and those of her team members.

PAIN

Lisa said: Most travelers take notes but forget to take them abroad, and the exchange rate is a headache for travelers.

GAIN

Lisa may need: a notebook that can be stored on your phone, and a gadget to exchange rates.

II. Ye

Ye is a 49-year-old middle-aged man. Currently a freelancer and former ambassador for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Ye is a frequent traveler around the world and is frustrated that there is no app that can help him get the travel information he needs.

PAIN

Ye said: He often can't find the most favorable price for air tickets and hotels. He often misses many local events and festivals when he travels.

GAIN

Ye may need: a tool to help him store his holiday information, or a helper for price comparison.

III. Wu

Wu is a 39-year-old bank employee. He does not like to travel abroad because of his previous unpleasant experiences in travel. He has a lot of doubts about travel information on the Internet.

PAIN

Wu said: whether domestic or foreign, a lot of information on many travel applications are false information. In fact, it is only to induce users to spend.

GAIN

Wu may need a tool that can organize the information he needs on his own, as he can fairly identify the truth of information on the Internet.

Emotional Journey Mapping

We made a map of the emotions of a boy named Rudy, who traveled to Japan, by drawing conclusions from an empathy map.

Through RUDY's emotion map, we discovered some travel issues, such as travel planning, language, exchange rate, and cultural issues.

PROBLEM

When planning a trip, unforeseen surprises often occur. For example, when you go abroad, you realize that you have paper notes at home, you have a lot of information that is not categorized when you use the web collection for planning, or you encounter some occasions when you do not have internet access. The convenience of the Internet gives users a great deal of freedom, but also a great deal of complexity.

KEY DRIVERS

As users have many choices on the Internet, it is crucial to help them organize their travel information correctly, so our design focuses on the following key points.

Free

Users can collect travel information as they wish in the Firefox browser

Information Categories

Categorizes users' fragmented travel information through color labels and folders, allowing users to personalize and manage web information.

Convenient to carry

With offline caching, users can keep track of the information they have saved in firefox even when there is no Internet access.
